Ykköskatto

Pure white, non-reflective ceiling paint. A special dispersion paint for professional use, suitable for roller and spray application. Excellent adhesion both new and previous painted surfaces. Water-borne and full-matt. M1-classificated. Nordic Swan (4096 0027).

For the ceilings in dry interior premises. Suitable also E.g. for kitchens, classrooms, patient rooms and stairwells ceilings because of good wet scrub resistance.

For new and already treated plaster, concrete, filler, chipboard, plasterboard and wood fiberboard surfaces according to instructions. Also suitable for zinc-coated air conditioning ducts.

Theoretical coverage 8-11 m²/l. Practical coverage depends on the application method, conditions, absorbency and roughness of the surface to be treated.

Protect from frost. Store in dry and cool place, protected from sunlight. A tinted product or a product kept in a half-empty can will not withstand long-term storage.

The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature at least +5°C and the relative humidity of the air below 80%.

Unpainted surfaces: Clean the new surfaces by removing any dirt and dust. Fill the surfaces with a suitable Tikkurila Presto or Prestonit filler, if needed, and sand the dried surface. Remove the sanding dust. Previously painted surfaces: Wash previously painted surfaces with Maalipesu detergent. Fill the cracks and holes with a suitable Tikkurila Presto or Prestonit filler and sand the dried surface. Remove the sanding dust. Water sensitive E.g. chalk painted or “structured” spray filler ceilings. Remove all loose or poorly adhering material, if needed, and prime with solvent borne Tixomatt primer.

First coat:

Stir Ykköskatto well before use. Apply 1-2 times with a roller or spray.

Maintenance Painting:

Ceilings painted with Ykköskatto can be maintenance painted with the same or similar water-borne paint. See Pretreatment.

Clean tools with water. Tikkurila Pensselipesu Tool Cleaner is recommended to remove slightly hardened paint.

If needed, after approx. 1 month from treating the surface, at the earliest. Clean the surfaces with a well-squeezed, damp soft sponge or cleaning cloth and a neutral (pH 6–8) washing solution. Follow the dilution instructions given by the detergent manufacturer when mixing the washing solution. The surface may not remain wet after cleaning. After surface treatment, surfaces must be handled with care for a few weeks, as the product will reach its final hardness and durability after about a month under normal conditions. If the surfaces need to be cleaned soon after finishing, clean them lightly with a damp cleaning cloth.
