A dining room in a private home underwent a complete makeover when a wall behind a dining table was painted with Tunto Hieno effect paint in shade N494 Nephrite.

This dining room lacked character, with its plain white walls offering little inspiration. After the complete makeover, the room sparks now personality and charm, inviting you to dine in style and comfort

Step by step instructions for painting a dining room wall with Tunto Hieno

These step by step instructions will guide you through the process.

1. Protecting the area

Start by cleaning and covering the surroundings. Tunto Hieno might spatter easily so make sure your floor and other areas are well covered.

If the surface has any visible stains, wash the wall before painting.

2. Sanding

Sand the surface. Any bumps or rough spots on the wall may make the first layer of paint visible, which is not the intended effect.

3. Painting the first layer

Paint the entire surface with Harmony paint shade N494 Nephrite. Apply Tunto Hieno in shade N494 Nephrite with a paint roller to approximately one square meter at a time.

4. Levelling and sanding

Level out roller structure with crosswise moves with stainless steel spatula (or Venezian trowel). The surface should not be too smooth, and should have visible pattern in it. First layer will create the pattern for the end result.

Next, sand the surface lightly again to remove the sharp edges.

5. Painting second layer

Apply Tunto Hieno again in same way, but use now shade S494 instead.

After 0.5-1h polish surface with stainless steel Spatula (or Venetian trowel), this will bring out more pattern from first layer.

If the painted wall is located in a kitchen area or any other area where extra durability is needed, treat the surface with Kiva 10 furniture lacquer.
