Industrial coating solutions for bridges

Tikkurila has over 60 years of experience in providing high-quality coatings for bridges, with some of our customer relationships stretching back as long as our background in the industry. Our coating solutions are tested and proven to have a high corrosion resistance and a long service life.

We have a long track record of supplying coating solutions for bridges in the Nordic countries, Russia, Poland and the Baltics, where weather conditions during the winter months can be particularly challenging.

Ensuring a long service life with high durability

Coatings for bridges are usually selected in accordance with atmospheric corrosivity categories and the system’s expected durability. Maintenance painting of bridges can be challenging thanks to their height, weather conditions and traffic, meaning the durability of the coating is especially crucial.

New bridges are usually pre-painted as separate parts in painting shops and then assembled in the final location. Final coat or coats are usually applied and/or touch-up is done after transportation to the final location and assembling. Bridges are often exposed to demanding weather conditions, meaning the coatings need to have a high corrosion resistance, good adhesion and exceptional colour stability.

Tikkurila offers reliable corrosion-resistant coating solutions for bridges with a very long service life. To make the maintenance painting easier and depending on the quality of the surface, we provide solutions that don’t require abrasive blast cleaning and are easy to apply.

Delivering excellence across markets

Our international presence and network enable us to align and streamline our clients’ paint processes across markets. Sometimes the steel structures of bridge are produced in one country ready for installation in another. Tikkurila has the capability to supply same products, systems and colour shades wherever the paint is applied.

We offer a wide range of anticorrosive paints and several paint systems for bridges. Our product line includes Temazinc 99 with a zinc content that exceeds the requirements of ISO standard 12944-5, and Temathane PC 50 and Temathane PC 80 that provide excellent gloss and colour retention.

Our coatings and systems for bridges are fully tested and comply with ISO 12944 and requirements. We also provide more advanced solutions for applications where more robust protection is needed.
