Alfagel 400

Alkali-resistant silicone-based preservative that penetrates well into the substrate (SILKO-approved 3.252). Prevents the capillary penetration of precipitation and splash water into the structure. Lets humidity escape as vapor from inside the structure. Reduces the risk of frost damage and the build-up of salt on the structure’s surface. Due to its paste-like consistency, the substance does not drip and can be spread as thick coats (in a single application) even on vertical surfaces and the bottom surfaces of bridge structures.

The surface to be treated must be clean and dry, the ambient temperature at least +5 °C and the relative humidity of air below 80%.

First coat:

The surface must be sufficiently dried and hardened before the treatment. Clean the surfaces of any dirt, dust and salt. Clean surfaces with mold, moss, etc. with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto in accordance with the instructions. Apply Alfagel 400 protective gel evenly with a spray gun (airless). The product can also be applied with a brush or roller. Depending on the porosity of the substrate, up to 400 g/m² of Alfagel 400 protective gel can be applied in one coat, but 200 g/m² will normally be enough to protect the surface. High vertical surfaces should be treated from the bottom up. Wipe any spatter immediately from windows, or protect the windows before starting work.

Wash tools immediately with water and detergent.

Dirty surfaces can be cleaned gently with a pressure washer and no detergent. Remove algae or mold with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto and rinse thoroughly. NOTE! The surface must always be treated again after mold removal.
