Full matt
Water-borne, alkali-resistant, hydrophobic, paint-like acrylic coating that protects concrete against humidity and carbonation. Maximum grain size approx. 0.5 mm. SILKO approved (3.253).
Product Features
Suitable for painting concrete structures, wallboards and surfaces rendered with a cement mortar.
Recommended Uses
Residential, commercial, industrial and storage buildings and others.
3–5 m²/l, one coat. Coverage is affected by the roughness and porosity of the surface as well as the painting method and conditions.
Thinner
Waterborne
The temperature of the surface to be treated and air must be at least +5 °C and the relative humidity of air below 80%. Do not paint in strong sunlight.
Surface preparation
Unpainted surfaces: The substrate has to be sufficiently dry and hardened before the finishing treatment. Among other things, the drying and hardening time is affected by the working conditions and the thickness of the plaster layer, if any. Clean the unpainted surfaces of any dirt, dust and salt. Surfaces with mold, moss etc. are cleaned with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto in accordance with the instructions. Highly porous concrete surfaces should be leveled with Finnseco Polytop filler mortar or Finnseco Ylitasoituslaasti. Previously painted surface: Clean the surfaces of dirt, dust and salt. Surfaces with mold, moss etc. are cleaned with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto in accordance with the instructions. Remove any flaking and poorly adhering paint coats. Select the removal method according to the strength of the substrate and paint type (e.g. wire brushing, pressure washing with hot water or wet sand-blasting). Carry out necessary concrete repair, patching and filling using the Finnseco products as instructed.
Painting
First coat:
Apply two coats. The paint can be thinned up to 5 % with water for priming, if necessary. Finish with unthinned paint. Stir Finngard 500 well before use. Reserve enough paint from the same batch for one uniform surface, to avoid possible colour differences. Should you need to use two different production batches, paint the joints with a solution of 1 part of old batch and 1 part of new batch. Make sure that this joint is in as inconspicuous point as possible. The paint should be applied without interruptions. The recommended coverage values should be followed to ensure the best protection ability. Protect the surfaces not to be painted.
Maintenance Painting:
Surfaces painted with Finngard 500 can be re-painted with Finngard 150, Finngard 500 or Finngard Silicone Resin Paint.
Maintenance Instructions
Dirty surfaces can be carefully washed with a pressure washer without any detergent no earlier than one month after the surface treatment. The washing may leave permanent marks on the surface, so the area to be washed should be designed inconspicuously following the lines of the structure. It is recommended to remove any loose dirt dry with a soft brush, avoiding abrasion. Remove algae or mold with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto and rinse thoroughly. NOTE: Surfaces must always be retreated after mold removal.
