Description

Water-borne, silicone resin coating, which stays clean. Due to its super hydrophobic surface, the coating repels soil and water well, keeping the structure clean and dry. Max. grain size approx. 3.0mm.

Product Features

For coating outdoor surfaces of concrete and reinforced concrete and as part of Finngard facade systems.

Recommended Uses

Residential, commercial, industrial, warehouse and other buildings.

Coverage

2.5–4kg/m². The roughness, porosity and desired appearance of the surface to be treated, as well as the coating conditions, affect the spreading rate.

Thinner

Waterborne

Storage

Must be protected from frost. The product or container temperature must not exceed + 35°C. Not to be stored in direct sunlight even covered. Tinted or poorly sealed coating or coating stored in half empty container, does not withstand long-term storage.

Application Conditions

The surface to be treated must be dry, with a temperature of at least +5°C and a relative humidity of less than 80%. The coating must not be done in strong sunshine.

Surface preparation

Unpainted surface: The base must be dry and hardened before surface treatment. Drying and hardening times are affected by e.g. conditions and layer thickness. Unpainted surfaces are cleaned of dirt, dust, and salts. Wash mouldy, moss-covered surfaces with Tikkurila Mould Removal according to the instructions. Smooth and glassy concrete surfaces should always be treated mechanically to provide a sufficient surface profile. Previously painted surface: Surfaces are cleaned from dirt, dust, and salts. Wash mouldy, moss-covered surfaces with Tikkurila Mould Removal according to the instructions. Flaky and loose paint layers are removed. The removal method is selected according to the strength of the surface and the type of paint to be removed (e.g. steel brushing, hot water pressure washing or water-sand washing). The required concrete repairs, fillings and levellings are made with Finnseco products according to the instructions.

Painting

First coat:

Coating is applied with a steel or micro-cellular rubber spatula or by spraying with a mortar pump. The surface is scraped immediately after applying with Tikkurila plastic scraper. TO BE NOTED The best dirt and water repellence for the Finngard Clean facade coating is achieved in 1-3 months, depending on weather conditions. Finngard Clean 3,0 facade coating is mixed thoroughly before using. To avoid possible differences in colours for a uniform surface, reserve a sufficient amount of the coating of same batch. If you need to use different batches of new and old paint batches, the border of the old and new coating is treated with a mixture of 1 part of old coating and 1 part of new coating. The aim is to arrange the work so that the border between the working breaks and the different containers becomes as invisible as possible. Protect the untreated surfaces, such as windows, metal and natural stone surfaces, when working.

Maintenance Painting:

For maintenance painting of a surface treated with Finngard Piirtopinnoite, Finngard Clean facade paint or Finngard Silicone Resin Paint can be used. Re-coating can be done with the same product, see sections Pre-treatment, base treatment and coating treatment.

Cleaning of tools

The tools are washed with water. Tikkurila Pensselipesu can be used to remove coating that has hardened to a certain extent.

Maintenance Instructions

Dirty surfaces can be washed gently by pressure washing without detergent at the earliest one month after surface treatment. The surface may have a permanent trace of washing, so the washed area must be bordered in a discreet way according to the lines of the structure. It is advisable to gently remove loose dirt with a soft brush, without rubbing, when drying. For removing algae and mould, use Tikkurila Homeenpoisto and rinse well. NOTE The surface always requires a new surface treatment after mould washing.

VOC

(Cat A/c) 40g/l (2010) Finngard Clean 3,0 facade coating contains VOC max. 40g/l.

Repels dirt

Finngard Clean 3,0 -julkisivupinnoite is a facade coating for concrete structures, block, and mineral-based building board surfaces. The tintable plaster provides a dirt- and water-repellent facade that stays clean even in impure weather conditions. Finngard Clean 3,0 -julkisivupinnoite repels dirt from polluted air, preventing it from settling on the facade. Due to its superhydrophobic surface, this plaster repels dirt and water superbly well, keeping buildings clean and dry.

Protection against mould on paint film

Silicone resin plaster forms a special coating that provides increased protection against mould growth on exterior walls. The created coating also repels dirt and prevents rain and splash water penetration into the structure, and allows water to come through from inside as a vapour. Finngard Clean 3,0 -julkisivupinnoite facade coating is easy to keep clean, that lengthens the maintenance painting interval.
