Description

Water-borne, silicone resin paint, which stays clean. Due to its super hydrophobic surface, the paint repels soil and water well, keeping the structure clean and dry.

Product Features

For exterior painting of concrete and reinforced plastering surfaces.

Recommended Uses

Residential, commercial, industrial, warehouse and other buildings.

Coverage

4-6m2/l one layer. Spreading rate is affected by roughness and porosity of the painted surface as well as the painting method and conditions.

Thinner

Waterborne

Application Conditions

The surface to be painted must be dry, at a temperature of at least +5°C and a relative humidity of less than 80%. Painting work should not be done in intense sunshine.

Surface preparation

Unpainted surface: The new concrete and plaster surface must be sufficiently dried and hardened prior to surface treatment. The drying and hardening time is affected by the composition of the surface (e.g. the lime-cement ratio of the mortar), the thickness and conditions of the possible mortar layer. Unpainted surfaces are cleaned from dirt, dust, and salts. Wash mouldy, moss-covered surfaces with Tikkurila Mould Removal according to the instructions. Smooth and glassy concrete surfaces should always be treated mechanically to provide a sufficient surface profile and to remove cement adhesive. For concrete surfaces with a lot of pores, overfilling with a Finnseco Polytop coating mortar or Finnseco Ylitasoituslaasti is recommended. Previously painted surface: Surfaces are cleaned from dirt, dust, and salts. Wash mouldy, moss-covered surfaces with Tikkurila Mould Removal according to the instructions. Flaky, powdery, and loose paint layers are removed. The removal method is selected according to the strength of the surface and the type of paint to be removed (e.g. steel brushing, hot water pressure washing or water-sand washing). The required concrete repairs, fillings and levellings are made with Finnseco products according to the instructions. The necessary plastering patches are made with suitable plastering mortars for levelling and the structure of the surrounding surface.

Painting

First coat:

a) Priming and painting The surface to be treated is primed with Finngard Silikonipohjuste according to instructions. The painting is done twice with Finngard Clean facade paint. Time between the layers must be at least 12 hours. Finngard Clean facade paint can be thinned with water max. 5-10% for the first treatment. b) Undercoat and paining The surfaces are under coated with a mixture of Finngard Pohjustegeeli and Finngard Clean facade paint with a ratio of 2 litres of Finngard Pohjustegeeli with 20 litres of Finngard Clean facade paint. Finngard Pohjustegeeli and Finngard Clean facade paints are mixed well together (approx. 5 minutes with a machine) before use. If necessary, the mixture can be thinned with water up to 5% (rinse Finngard Pohjustegeeli container with water for thinning). The ready mixture must be used within 24 hours of mixing. The topcoat is done once at the earliest 12 hours after priming with undiluted Finngard Clean facade paint. c) Painting The painting is done twice with Finngard Clean facade paint. Time between the layers must be at least 12 hours. Finngard Clean facade paint can be thinned with water max. 5-10% for the first treatment. NOTE! The best dirt and water repellence for the Finngard Clean facade paint is achieved in 1-2 months, depending on weather conditions. Finngard Piirtopinnoite is mixed thoroughly before using. For a uniform surface, reserve a sufficient amount of the paint from the same batch. The border of the old and new paint batches is painted with a mixture of 1 part of old paint and 1 part of new paint. The work should be arranged so that the border will be as unnoticeable as possible. Other surfaces should be covered during working. On painted surface, mechanical stress may cause parts to appear lighter, especially dark colours. This is a typical product characteristic of all matt facade paints, but does not affect the technical functionality of the product.

Maintenance Painting:

For maintenance painting of a surface treated with Finngard Clean facade paint, Finngard Clean facade paint and Finngard Silicone Resin Paint can be used.

Maintenance Instructions

Dirty surfaces can be washed gently by pressure washing without detergent the earlies one month after surface treatment. The surface may have a permanent trace of washing, so the washed area must be bordered in a discreet way according to the lines of the structure. It is advisable to gently clean loose dirt with a soft brush, without rubbing, when drying. For removing algae and mould, use Tikkurila Homeenpoisto and rinse well according to instructions. NOTE The surface always requires a new surface treatment after mould washing.

VOC

(cat A/c) 40g/l (2010) Finngard Clean facade paint contains VOC max. 40g/l.

Repels dirt

Finngard Clean -julkisivumaali is a facade paint for concrete exterior walls that provides a dirt and water repellent surface. The painted facade stays clean even in impure weather conditions. Finngard Clean -julkisivumaali repels dirt from polluted air, preventing it from settling on the facade. Due to its hydrophobic non-stick surface, the paint repels soil and water well, keeping the structure clean and dry. Facades painted with Finngard Clean -julkisivumaali can be easily washed clean if necessary.

Protection against mould on paint film

Silicone resin paint forms a special coating that provides increased protection against mould growth on exterior walls. The created coating also repels dirt and is easy to keep clean. Finngard Clean -julkisivumaali is a durable facade paint that lengthens the maintenance painting interval.
