Alkyd oil primer for outdoor painting of bare wood surfaces before finishing with oil or acrylic paints. Also suitable for painting surfaces previously treated with oil paint.

Exterior walls, window sashes, railings, fences.

Sawn surfaces 5–8 m²/l. Planed surfaces 8–10 m²/l.

The surface to be treated must be dry. This means that the moisture content of the wood is below 20%. During painting and drying, the temperature of the air must be at least +5°C and the relative humidity below 80%

Unpainted surfaces: Clean surfaces affected by mold and dirt with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto solution . Prime the surface at the earliest possible stage of construction with Tikkurila priming oil. Remove loose resin from knots. Previously painted surfaces: Use a scraper to remove any loose material and gray wood from the surface and brush the surface clean with a wire brush. Wash any dirty and moldy surfaces with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto according to instructions. Treat any bare wood surfaces with Tikkurila priming oil.

First coat:

First application: Stir Öljypohja well and apply on bare wood surfaces once by brush. Treat the end grains of the wood with particular care. Finishing painting is recommended to be performed as soon as possible after priming; however, after 6–10 months at the latest. Wood contains resin and other staining extracts, particularly around knots, which can cause discoloration or bleeding in the painted surface due to variations in temperature and humidity.
