Unica Ikkunakitti

Water-borne, recoatable and quick-drying special glazing putty for interior and exterior windows and doors.

Interior and exterior window frames. The putty can be painted with, e.g. Unica Akva, Teho Ikkunamaali, Helmi Kalustemaali or Maalarin Valkolakka. Also suitable for filling joints on interior walls and ceilings and for filling small cracks. Can be coated with Tikkurila’s interior wall and ceiling paints.

For glazing and filling small cracks and crevices on wood surfaces. Also suitable for glass, paint, PVC and zinc-coated steel surfaces.

For glazing, apply approx. 100 g/m.

Waterborne

The surface to be treated must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5 °C and the relative humidity of air below 80%.

Remove loose and flaky putty from the grooves with a smoothing scraper. Clean the surface with sand paper or a wire brush.

First coat:

Prime the bare wood surfaces of the putty grooves outdoors with Valtti Pohjuste or Valtti Plus Base. Apply a priming coat of Unica Akva Maali or Teho Ikkunamaali onto exterior surfaces and Unica Akva Maali, Helmi Pohjamaali, Jehu or Otex onto interior surfaces. Cut the tube tip diagonally with a knife. The opening should be large enough to make sure that the putty will fill the whole groove with one application. Place the tube in the sealing gun and apply the Presto Ikkunakitti directly from the tube to the groove. Cover the putty with a finishing coat of Unica Akva Maali or Teho Ikkunamaali on exterior surfaces, or with two coats of Unica Akva Maali, Helmi Kalustemaali or Maalarin Valkolakka on interior surfaces, no earlier than 8 hours from the application of putty. The paint must extend 1–2 mm over the window pane.
