How to apply Temafloor P300 top coat on to a new concrete garage floor

1. Surface preparation

Investigate the condition of the substrate. Pay attention to presence of laitance, contaminants like oil or grease, metal bars etc. Protect the working area,for example walls from dust with a plastic covering. Make sure the working area has sufficient lighting and ventilation.

Prepare the surface with suitable method. For example, by grinding. Remember personal safety and use protective gears to avoid injures. Use manual grinding machine to work onto difficult to reach areas like corners, wall/floor juncture and drains. Carefully remove the dust using efficient vacuum cleaner.

 Make sure ambient temperature, relative humidity and surface temperature are according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

2. Crack patching

Prepare patching putty by mixing unthinned primer lacquer and Temafloor Thickener or for example dry clean sand. Prime the areas to be patched before applying the putty. Fill the primed cracks and holes with fresh putty. Apply as thin layer as possible. Too thick patch needs to be sanded flat after curing.

3. Primer application

Prepare the priming mixture in correct ratio. Mix each component separately and combine them. Added thinner improves pores sealing properties of the primer.

Pour the mixture on the floor and apply by roller. Repeat the priming if needed. Areas that are more difficult to paint like drains, corners and covings are recommended to paint first by using a brush or small roller.

4. Top coat application

Mix mechanically each component separately. Combine base and hardener in right proportions. Mix thoroughly (approx. 2 min to get homogenous mixture). Pour mixture on the floor in few portions. Apply the mixture within pot-life time.

Spread the mixture using rubber or metal trowel to desired thickness. Level with a roller and finalize with a spiked roller to remove air bubbles.
