Aito Punamultamaali is a traditional Swedish red paint containing linseed oil and pure iron oxide pigment, prepared by boiling. Aito Punamultamaali forms a breathable surface that becomes chalky and wears out gradually over the years.
Product Features
For painting exterior sawn boards and rough log surfaces, whether new or previously painted with boiled Swedish red paint or Tikkurila’s Öljypohjainen Punamaali. Not suitable for application on other types of paint or planed surfaces.
Recommended Uses
For the exterior sawn board or rough log walls of residential buildings and outbuildings.
For sawn board and rough log surfaces, approx. 3 m²/l.
Thinner
Waterborne
The surface to be treated must be dry, the temperature of the surface and air at least +10 ºC and the relative humidity of the air below 80 % during painting and drying.
Surface preparation
Unpainted surfaces: Brush the wood surface clean of dirt, dust and loose wood fibers. Wash moldy surfaces with Homeenpoisto solution. Remove loose resin from knots with a steel trowel. Previously painted surfaces: Remove as much of the previously applied boiled Swedish red paint or Tikkurila Öljypohjainen Punamaali as possible with a wire brush. Do not breathe the paint dust.
Painting
First coat:
Thin Aito Punamultamaali with water to a concentration of 30 to 40%. Apply with brush using force to achieve one or two thin layers. Mix the paint before use and thin it with water. To achieve a uniform tone for the surface, mix a sufficient amount of paint in a single container. Try to apply the paint in thin coats. An overly thick coat of paint can begin to scale. If the product will be sprayed on, you should brush the surface immediately after spraying in order to ensure the adhesion and correct thickness of the paint.
Maintenance Instructions
Handle the painted surface with care. If the surface gets dirty, it can be brushed lightly or washed without detergents.
VOC
EU VOC limit value (cat A/d) 130g/l(2010). Aito Punamultamaali contains VOC max. 130 g/l.
