Renovated Cēsis skate park draws in young people with its pink and violet tones

In the heart of Cēsis Maija Park there is a unique example of leisure park architecture — DYNAMI:T Skatepark, the first public skate park and basketball court in Latvia and a playful piece of urban art.

The structures of the skate park, which covers an area of 1,245 m², were designed by Latvian skate park designer Dāvis Šmoteks in cooperation with Slovenian professional BMX rider Chris Khan, who is well known in the industry. DYNAMI:T Skatepark reflects the latest global industry trends and is purposefully designed to meet the needs of a wide audience, offering a fun experience for beginners and experienced riders alike.

The surface of the park is made of asphalt and will be used intensively, so a high-durability coating was essential. Tikkurila Temafloor PU-UV – a tintable, flexible, solvent-free and weather-resistant two-component polyurethane asphalt surface coating – was chosen as an ideal solution for this purpose. The coating offers excellent UV-resistance, making it well-suited for areas that are exposed to direct sunlight, as well as resistance to mechanical and chemical stresses.

The aim of WeBuildParks, the builders of the new skate park, was to bring innovation into the urban environment of Cēsis to attract young people and accentuate the dynamic environment of the skate park. This is why bright pink and violet tones like NCS S 1070-R, NCS S 2060-R30B and NCS S 4050-R50B were chosen. The total painted area is almost 400 m².

We are glad to have partners who support our ideas. The combination of colours adds a touch of individuality to the urban environment. We hope that people will come to this park to enjoy the bright colours and have a good time.

The pink and violet painting was designed by Kristīne Višņevska, the head of the company's design team. It is a modern, bold and colourful play of shapes and layers that has helped create a new and positive environment for young people. Kristīne chose bright tones, big clean areas and energetic shapes for the painting, with the chosen colours standing out against the green of the surrounding park and the dark colour of the asphalt.

In recent years, bright and colourful sports grounds have become very popular around the world, but there are still only a handful in Latvia. Colour is the essence and strength of such public venues because it improves the mood of visitors and promotes interaction between them, both in person and on social media.

Tikkurila's support for the creation of Cēsis skate park was not by chance — the company aims to support the creation of environments that will ensure children and young people can use their time meaningfully, promoting the development of an active society that engages in sports.

We are happy that Tikkurila had the opportunity to participate in this project. We are delighted to demonstrate through such projects that investment in the environment, culture and sport is very important for the development of society in general.
