Reducing resource use, advancing a circular economy.
At Tikkurila, we aim to reduce the consumption of virgin resources and be part of a circular economy approach, without compromising on quality or performance. It involves incorporating recycled raw materials into the fillers and resins of our products.
For (Product’s name here), the raw materials used come from recycling streams of automotive windshields, glass waste, and marble quarry residues. At our manufacturing units we continuously strive to reduce waste by recovering as much as possible and we are targeting to recover 100% of our waste by 2030.
We are in active dialogue with our suppliers about continuously identifying options for introducing non fossil and renewable raw materials into our products.
Our plastic buckets contain increasingly more recycled material working with suppliers certified by a third party such as RecyClass or Seconda Vita.
RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification ensures transparency and accountability in the use of recycled plastics. It offers a clear framework for certifying the origin of waste and provides transparent communication across the value chai
This certification scheme is developed in line with EN 15343:2007 and ISO 22095:2020 controlled blending model standards.
The PSV – Plastica Seconda Vita certification, created by IPPR (Institute for the Promotion of Recycled Plastics), was the first ecological label in Italy and Europe dedicated to recycled plastic materials and products. Its purpose is to certify the quality and traceability of materials obtained from plastic waste recovery, promoting the value of recycling, and the role of plastics in the circular economy. The PSV label therefore represents an important tool for enhancing the use of recycled materials and supporting more sustainable development.
It is based on the guarantees provided by the technical standards UNI UNIPLAST 10667 and EN 15343, as well as third-party verification carried out by accredited certification bodies.
The certification applies the concept of “traceability” to recycled materials and calculates recycled content according to the UNI EN ISO 14021 standard.
A constantly growing number of construction projects require leading green building certifications. At Tikkurila we are committed to designing and delivering products that help meet the requirements of these certification schemes, such as LEED, BREEAM, WELL, and HQE.
