The state music school in Jastrzębie Zdrój, Poland has invested in a new concert hall with space for over 360 visitors. The young talent at the school will now be able to benefit from a light and airy purpose-built space with excellent acoustics and a dramatic monochrome colour palette.
The concert hall was built in accordance with the principles of sustainable construction and the walls & floors were all coated using high-quality Tikkurila solutions.
Providing space for inspiration with classic white
The changing rooms, corridors, foyer and stairs walls were painted with Tikkurila Temafloor PU, a solvent-free coating based on polyurethane resin. Horizontal elements in the changing rooms, corridors and foyer were coated using the same self-levelling, elastic product.
All elements, both horizontal and vertical, were finished a brilliant white with Tikkurila Fontefloor PU Matt topcoat in white RAL 9010. With all surfaces one clean, pure colour, the result is a space that feels uncluttered, where students can be inspired.
Bringing drama with elegant black
In spaces such as changing rooms and bathrooms, a two-component polyurethane coating was used – Tikkurila Temafloor PU Color in black RAL 9005.
This solvent-free, tintable coating is characterised by its high flexibility. It dries to a smooth, non-porous surface, which was then covered with Tikkurila Fontedur FL Matt clear varnish. Both Temafloor PU Color and Fontedur FL Matt are M1 certified.
Using black on the walls, floor and ceiling heightens the drama of backstage areas, while still maintaining a uniform and elegant finish.
A healthy indoor environment
The M1-classified Tikkurila products were used throughout the concert hall to ensure excellent acoustics and indoor air quality. The coating solution provides a visually appealing, seamless and durable surface that can be tinted to any colour to provide exactly the right look and feel for the space. Floors don’t shrink or crack, meaning they can be kept clean and hygienic.

Professional workmanship and good cooperation
The works were carried out by Euromat Polska Sp. z o.o., a painting and flooring contractor in cooperation with Tikkurila for many years. The company worked on the approx. 900 m2 facility for two months. Before applying the coatings, the substrate was prepared by grinding and shot-blasting the concrete. The topcoat was then applied using a metal trowel.
