The company now has around 200 stores across the country and aims to create the right conditions for customers to make sustainable choices that highlight the joys of eating.
The latest store opened at Sickla Galleria in Stockholm in September 2022. The Sickla area is undergoing an exciting period of growth, with new housing, offices and shops as well as a new public transport hub. This makes it an ideal location for the new store, which is approximately 1,700 square meters and filled with culinary delights, delicious inspiration and tasty ready-made food.
Shopping with sustainability at its heart
Hemköp takes its responsibilities for the challenges that revolve around how we consume and produce food seriously. The company aims to help create a smarter, richer world of food – and a future where food is tastier, more nutritious and more varied. To do this Hemköp uses its stores, product range and food-based knowledge to inspire and guide food lovers to make more sustainable, climate-smart choices. While working towards its goal, Hemköp does everything it can to emphasise the importance of good, healthy food that is produced under sustainable and fair conditions.
Flooring that creates comfort and wellbeing
With these kinds of sustainability credentials it’s no wonder Hemköp turned to Tikkurila when renovating the Sickla Galleria store. Tikkurila’s offering includes the M1-classified, low-emission Cozy Floor system, which offers a modern look and feel while creating comfort and wellbeing by ensuring good air quality and acoustics. This flexible, self-leveling, two-component polyurethane coating is suitable wherever a durable, visually appealing, seamless surface is needed, for example in public spaces such as schools, libraries, cafes, shops and office spaces. It is also well suited for heated floors.
For the Sikla Galleria store renovation, the most important considerations were visitor wellbeing, sustainability, practicality and aesthetics. The flooring had to be resistant to wear, but still attractive and original. The Cozy Floor system was recognised as meeting all these needs and was chosen to cover the entire shop floor space.
Exciting opportunities to play with colour and design
The right flooring finish can have a huge impact on the aesthetics of a space, making it more attractive, calming or eye-catching. To create exactly the right look and feel, Cozy Floor can be tinted to any colour, which also makes it easy to match floors with other room elements. As well as single-colour surfaces, Cozy Floor also offers the opportunity to play with patterns – for example by combining different colours and patterns to imitate natural stone and marble. Hemköp chose to use Cozy Floor in RAL 7006 Beige grey for the Sickla Galleria store, and 4,299 litres of paint was applied in a 2.5 mm thickness for a smooth, low-gloss surface finish.
