Sports arenas are large buildings used to hold sports, concert and exhibition events. They are made up of many different spaces, including restaurants and cafeterias, toilets, technical facilities and goods reception areas – not to mention the central ice rink, courts or sports fields.
Each of these spaces has a different flooring need, with coatings needed that can protect against heavy footfall or mechanical stress including fork-lift traffic. Tikkurila has a long history of supplying high-quality, durable coatings that provide outstanding protection for every floor in these complex and busy environments.
Winning good looks to sports arenas floors
While durability is a key consideration, floors in sports arenas also need good decorative properties like high gloss and a smooth, seamless finish, which also ensures they are easy to keep clean. We have a wide selection of colours available including metallic effects, making it possible to design elaborate and attractive flooring that matches the branding of the sports arena and has a real wow effect on visitors.
For everything from ice to wheels
Temafloor 150, a two-component solvent-free epoxy paint, is the perfect choice for the concrete floors of ice hockey arenas. The paint colour shows through the ice, making the surface shine as if illuminated from underneath. Temafloor 150 is equally suitable for roller hockey rinks as the coated surface is strong and durable and provides suitable friction for the game. It is also recommended for areas like service hallways, staircases and spectator areas, where its resistance to chemical and mechanical stress keeps floors safe and crack free. For outdoor arenas, such as open-air sport stadiums and concert venues, you can find recommended flooring solutions on our outdoor areas page.
A fresh new look for Hovet arena
Hovet arena is an iconic ice hockey arena in Stockholm, Sweden. In a recent renovation, the concrete floors and stairs were first renovated and patched with Tikkurila Temafloor 400 and sand, then finished with Tikkurila Fontefloor EP 100, a multi-purpose, water-borne, M1-certified low-emission epoxy paint. Tikkurila was on hand to provide support and advice throughout the process, and the result is one that all parties are proud of – not least the happy fans.
